Justin Trudeau addresses his wife’s COVID-19 diagnosis

Coronavirus outbreak: Justin Trudeau addresses his wife’s COVID-19 diagnosis | FULL

Addressing Canadians from outside Rideau Cottage in Ottawa on Friday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau discussed the status of his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, who officials confirmed on Thursday had tested positive for COVID-19. Trudeau reiterated that her symptoms were “mild” at this point.

Trudeau said doctors have advised him that until he exhibits symptoms, there is “no value” in him being tested for COVID-19.

Trudeau also looked to reassure Canadians when he said that Canada is in an “enviable position” due to Canada’s “fiscal firepower” in responding to the economic impacts of COVID-19.

The Prime Minister said his government is “not closing the door” when it comes to any and all further possible responses to the global COVID-19 outbreak, but said their decisions would be guided by the “best science.”
