About The Program

The world is in a state of confusion and young people are feeling the effects of it. New terms are being created like; embedded journalism, “Going Viral” and “Fake News” are new terms which are growing within societies vocabulary.

Knowing what is real and what is fake is not easy. There are people who don´t believe that the earth is round. They believe the earth is flat. This seems to be proven whenever we get on a plane and view the curvature of the horizon. This would seem like an unshakable truth, but there are still those who believe otherwise.

The ideas of an authoritarian government in some of the most Democratic systems could grow in such a short time span while one of the core builders of the European Union deciding to leave the Union seems like a political and social change, which we may not understand yet.

In the summer if 2017, 50 youth from seven European countries volunteered for the Roskilde Festival as supporters in the P-Area under Settle N Share. The experience was great although the weather was terrible and the goals where hampered by miserable conditions. The group persevered, accomplished their volunteer goals and gained new friendships and skills.

In the summer of 2019, the group plan to travel to the United States and compose a “Training System” to address some of the common challenges the youth face in the our home countries which include; youth unemployment, lack of IT competence and skill deficits. an apathy for voting, and a commitment to civil affairs and community action. There has been a rise in closed boarders and Nationalism, but this has never been the answer. The answers are within cross boarder cooperation, dissemination of facts and informative news. An active society in civil affairs and voting.

We hope to take 45+ participants and leaders across the United States to learn about its democracy and what is happing now and in the future to support the goals of the European Union 2020. We hope to share our past experiences with past European level programs, sharing best practices, peer 2 peer learning philosophy, and goals to evaluate and hold periods of reflection so the young people involved can discuss between themselves and their American host, some of their experiences, fears, and goals for the future.

The program will put an emphasis of dissemination and exploitation of the activities, WorkingGroups and daily program material being arranged throughout the program. We will be documenting all of the aspects of the exchange including, dissemination of information via Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, and on the websites of the sending partner.
